Orthodontic braces, designed to realign teeth and enhance chewing, biting, and aesthetics, come in various styles, offering flexibility and convenience. The primary categories are removable and fixed devices, each serving different needs and preferences.

Traditional Fixed Braces

Traditional braces, known for their effectiveness, especially in severe malocclusions, involve individual brackets bonded to each tooth, connected by a wire. Adjustments by an orthodontist apply consistent pressure to reposition teeth. Options include:

  • Metal Brackets: Durable and visible, offering structural reliability.
  • Ceramic Brackets: Less noticeable, effective, yet prone to staining.
  • Clear Brackets: Least visible, higher cost, and more susceptible to damage.

Ceramic Brackets

These are preferred for their discreet appearance, making them ideal for those concerned about aesthetics. However, they are less durable and more stain-prone than metal braces.

Invisalign® Clear Braces

Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable trays for teeth alignment, requiring regular replacement and commitment for effectiveness. It’s suited for minor to moderate issues, with alternatives like ClearCorrect and MTM® Clear Aligner also available.

Lingual Braces

Positioned behind the teeth, lingual braces offer invisibility but may initially affect speech. They involve custom-made brackets linked by a wire, prioritizing aesthetics.

Damon System

This system uses light wires for initial alignment, advancing to heavier wires as teeth straightening, without traditional elastic rings. Its sliding doors reduce friction, discomfort, and treatment time, offering a discreet and quicker solution, though at a higher cost.

SureSmile

Utilizing advanced technology, SureSmile employs 3D imaging for precise positioning, with computer-crafted archwires that respond to body heat for efficient treatment. It’s technologically superior but more expensive.

Six Month Smiles

Focusing on the aesthetic improvement of visible teeth, this system uses tooth-colored brackets and small archwires without increasing pressure for faster movement. It’s cost-effective for cosmetic enhancements.
